Day 61- Do creepy crawlies make you go EWWW? NOT MY BUGS! First Illustration Sketch of 2012.

Yes, it's true not all BUGS are creepy crawlies. Illustrator Dawn Phillips demonstrates how an ordinary bug can be a "Friendly Bug" who talks with the characters, in "Birthday at the Museum" by Author Brittany Reiher.

In the story the Velvet Ant and the Hissing Cockroach are able to talk.  Therefore, Illustrator Dawn Phillips feels they should obtain facial features of human characteristics. The girls in the illustrations assist with identifying the two bugs with their own facial expressions.

If a bug talks to you...you'll be as surprised as the girls are right now.
